Winter Weather Update from the City of Kansas City


1/7/25: Due to extreme temperatures and the need for drivers to focus on treating roads, trash and recycling services will be canceled on Tuesday, January 7, Wednesday, January 8, and Thursday, January 9. Bulky item pickup is also canceled for the rest of the week. Residents with appointments should use the myKCMO app to reschedule.


  • Collections between Monday, January 13 and Thursday, January 16 will be allowed to have two extra bags . Residents will not need to use bag tags for extra bags. 
  • There will be extra bags collected Friday, January 10 for those who did not have their trash picked up Friday, January 3.

  The second Spring Cleanup drop-off event is scheduled for June 29, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, open to all KCMO residents. There will be two free drop-off locations in south Kansas City for discarding unwanted items during this time. The initial drop-off location at Ruskin High School's east parking lot, located at 7000 E. 111th St., will accept a wide range of items, including bulky objects like old furniture, leaves and brush, tires (with or without rims), trash, and various household hazardous wastes such as automotive products (antifreeze and used oil), batteries, household cleaners, and lawn and garden chemicals like herbicides, pesticides, and paint. We will meet at Raytown R d  and   Longview Rd at 9:00AM    Saturday, November 6th, 2021 Blue bags, vests and gloves provided. Ruskin Heights, Ruskin Hills, Kirkside, kirktown and Belle Acres participating.
